Elevator Hip-Hop caught up with Detroit native DJ House Shoes to discuss Detroit hip-hop, J Dilla, vinyl records, and production tools of choice. House Shoes also gives his thoughts on Serato, DJ’s who’ve never used records, and his history of burning things.

Well I actually started DJ’ing and making beats seriously like right around the same time back like ’93, ’94. I got my job spinning in St. Andrews in 94 right after I got kicked out of school for arson. Yeah… arson.
