Beat Phone Sampling Software for Apple iPhone

Apparently cell phone customers are on the run nowadays.  Last week I received a personal call from a Sprint rep asking me to re-up my contract for another 2 years in exchange for a $10 monthly billing credit.  Being naturally afraid of commitment, I rejected the offer and immediately began pondering what other ego boosting productivity devices I could lay my hands on 6 months down the road.

All you producers out there thought that FL Studio and Reason was great, but pretty soon it may be time to trade in that bulky MPC 2000XL or ASR-10 for  an iPhone w/built in open source sequencers!  Imagine making beats from your back pocket!?  Check the screenshots.

Beat Phone is currently available for free features such as:

  • 15 pads : one-shot pads, loop pads. Possibility to switch between functionalities with function pads
  • 3 function pads : set/unset loop, set/unset strudder on loops, BPM tap adjust
  • Pattern editor “Grid Sequencer”
  • Kit selection
  • Samples in “any” format : WAV, AIFF, …
  • Output at 44.1kHz, 16-bits
  • Up to 256 samples polyphony

Features to be made available in future releases:

  • Loop stretching
  • Record samples and live mixes
  • Landscape sequencer
  • Track mixer
  • Loop studio
