Record collector, store owner, and archivist Paul Mawhinney is credited as having the largest private record collection in the world. With over 1 million albums and 1 1/2 million singles the Library of Congress estimates that only 17 percent of the music in his archive is available on CD.
Paul tells the story of building his collection as a traveling salesman, opening Record-Rama, and shows off such gems as an ultra-rare Rolling Stones pressing and the first flat record ever made, which was pressed in 1881.
The world is dead out there… they have their ears closed. They don’t understand what’s going on at this moment and its gonna take them ten, fifteen, twenty years to wake up and realize what they missed.
