I ran across a few interesting things this week in the world of Hip Hop production and sampling.
The History of Sampling V1.2 is a great little project to play with that gives a timeline on many of your favorite classic Hip Hop samples and beats.
A quick interview with DJ Kon about diggin and the discovery of DJ Muro’s blog was also this week’s highlights. The pictures are nice, but don’t forget to use the translator to find out just what the hell he is saying.
There’s also going to be what looks like a pretty decent Hip Hop production conference in New York on March 17th and 18th. Skillz of the Trade will be featuring a number of prominent producers including Rsonist, Weatherman, and Thrilla from the Heatmakerz, Wonder Arillo (Engineer for T.I.), Easy Mo Bee, Dame Grease, Cardinze, Don Grossinger, and Stoni. It’s a little pricey, but I get the feeling that it will be worth the price of admission.
Can we make donations to Sandra’s arts and craft stall? I’d be happy to make some items and bring them with me. Being a qliitung addict, I can run up baskets and other lightweight items for the stall. Could make a quilt to raffle but would need to know soon as I have a lot of works in progress at the moment!
