Looks like a really impressive piece of kit – especially the price point that these will be shipping for…
I’m not in the market for a new interface, but anyone who is might want to seriously take a look at this one, specially f you’re on a budget (aka credit crunching)… costing £349 in the UK and $499 in the USA.
I wish digidesign would form partners with a Co. like “Focusrite” to create their mic pres because focusrite has a pretty good standard that they follow in a top and low end piece of gear the pres in degidesign are not even average compared to anything else produced by focustrite.
That’s because you paying for both hardware and software when you buy a Digidesign interface whereas with almost everything else when you pay for an interface, you get something back that’s of an equal standard in relation to the amount of money you pulled out.
Digidesign have to degrade the quality of their hardware to be able to give you Pro Tools free with it, so unless you’re dippin’ your toe in the HD pool, remember what you’re paying for when you pull out your wallet for a Digi LE system.
Digi LE systems aren’t that bad value for money though – If you’re gettin’ started on a PC that is.
Great point Kevin,
I agree… with Digi you’re paying for both software and hardware. Considering that the price is very reasonable.
has anyone used one
I have a MOTU 896HD and was wondering how the pres and the ADconverters sound like ? anyone know??
I have the Motu 896HD. I believe it looks better than it is. Maybe it is better than me. I’m about to find out. I have the Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 on order. Reason? A look at the manual online presents it to be more user friendly. It sure looks like it.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but the Digi 001 had Focusrite pres in it.
