For those who make the wise cracks about Crate Kings don’t know or care about it being an informative outlet… So what! Maschine is being used in a lot of posted videos, use what you use. Times change right along with equipment. Semantik can’t help the criteria or equipment these people use. Crate Kings is the shit still regardless of any set back if you don’t like it kick rocks so what the forum is down wait bi@#$ sh!#t happens stop being a dildo if only some of you knew the cost it takes to keep a site up & running smoothly y’all make a bruh sick. Stop being so damn judgmental it is what it is like it or leave it….
Not sure why dude above me is so angry, but CK is definitely changing. This site went from posting dope up & coming beat tapes, interviews, videos, & well-written articles to mostly youtube videos & event/product announcements. It doesn’t seem to be a coincidence that great content is being overlooked in favor of borderline advertisements, but all you can do as a reader is move on if you don’t like it.
Either way you choose you have to pay respect to Semantik for everything he has done for us in the past. Just because we don’t like what’s going on here anymore doesn’t mean we will forget the top notch content & inspiration that he provided for us on a daily basis for YEARS before this.
yeah, come on Semantik, why aren’t you out picking the best veggies for my groceries too man?? I’m down to just eating the paper plates in my cupboards. 🙂

I’ve got to be honest. I truly didn’t expect this type of criticism upon my return to a regular posting schedule.
I didn’t go into the details of the site crash back in late March, but Crate Kings was recently hacked and threatened to be shutdown by the webhost. As a result, the site had to be fixed, restored, hosts changed, and servers setup. Considering that in addition to filtering and writing all of the content, I also manage the server, I think it’s only reasonable that I take a break after stabilizing everything.
Regarding the criticism about content. I may respond with a comment or even a fully blown post explaining the lack of posts and my editorial policy. Then again, I may not. Time is definitely an issue lately and I may decide that a response is not worth my effort. In fact, given the time that it takes to maintain the blog and forum, I may decide that it’s not worth it to continue writing this site at all. We soon shall see.
Either way. Thank you to those who’ve supported CK in the past and extra special thanks to those that continue to support.

I’ve only been on to CK for like a year or so, but I would miss the vids if you shut down. If you can keep those going much appreciated. Sure, some are like Ads almost and personally I think most of the beat battle stuff is kinda wack, like air guitar style, but all aside it’s a common staple for me to get inspiration instead of trying to find stuff myself off youtube or whatever.
Anyways, just givin’ some props.
Peace Semantik! You don’t have to explain yourself beyond what you have already. These cats on here that complain about the content or frequency of posts are not being considerate. Websites and blogs go through changes behind the scenes and sometimes the content may not move people like they used to but it doesn’t mean you are falling off. I too run a site where I do EVERYTHING. Its nearly impossible to maintain frequency all the time when you have a creative/family/professional life to tend to. The work you have put in and continue to do, is appreciated by legions of peeps. As Ghost47 stated, Maschine is being used often, so what? Its not the end of the world and every video is not necessarily a commercial. Technology is changing. If Akai came out with a software/hardware combo version of the MPC and producers gravitated to it, would it be more acceptable? Its not like Maschine is a toy that anyone can master. It has a lot of depth and it will continue to evolve. Its like when Beat Kangz were developing the hardware Beat Thang. People got so incensed that they dared call it an MPC killer and even pronounced it as “vaporware”. Yes it was hype but the Kangz are about to finally release the Beat Thang to the public with a rumor of it being distributed by Best Buy. This is an American designed beat machine created by African-Americans from hip hop culture and we should be proud of them not tear them down. And its Vers. 1…imagine the improvements that can come.

As for Needlz, he has a simple setup for preproduction and he has produced a plethora of hits in pop and hiphop. An interview where he is sharing knowledge should be welcomed instead of frowned upon. He is getting money, are you?
