Flying Lotus On Structured Art, Future Music Trends

Pay no attention to what Flying Lotus is rolling in his hands. What counts are his words. On Point and Apollo Magazine Flying Lotus as the producer discusses the influence of video games, Dr. Dre, and life experience on his music.

As we’re approaching this new era a lot of things are going to change. Though it is a lot easier to make the music, I think the music is going to get so crazy and so musical too that like, you’ll know when you hear that. It’s not gonna be no games.

  1. Semantik. you are the dude – I just listened to him on KCRW last week and it was awesome –

I really really agree about his whole “life experience” philosophy – and it’s funny what he says about music class, cause I think a lot of people have had the same type of experience – I did

what he said about the un-named Red Bull guy is balls on – if your music doesn’t make you at want to get up and boogie, I dunno, but I agree – music and dancing are older than spoken language, you should enjoy creating whatever it is you create

  2. the man just articulated whats in my head….no word of a lie.

  5. When I first heard FlyLo’s beats a few years back I got hooked. I had to get everything he did. He’s slept on in the hip hop community for being one of the true artists in/out the genre.
