AraabMuzik Claims Kanye West Jacked His Style

Twenty-year-old producer AraabMuzik, The MVP of the MPC, talks about his musical background as a drummer, his first big break with Cam’ron’s “I Used To Get It In Ohio”, his upcoming album.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the interview occurs when the producer claims that Kanye West jacked his style at the VMA’s, though Kanye’s performance didn’t even remotely resemble anything that AraabMuzik has done.

Style-jacking, coincidence, or something else? What do you think?

  1. It looked like all kanye was doin was triggerin’ a few vocal samples or some low risk shit. Araab is triggerin’ the drums and the melodies or one shots and what not jus doin the whole beat.I wasn’t too impressed with kanye takin’ advantage of the mainstreams ignorance as to what an MPC is or even the role the AKAI has played in the history of Hip Hop with it’s MPC series. He definetly ain’t on the Live MPC level of Araab nor Exile or whoever else is doin that.If he is he didn’t show it there and that was SNL not the awards where he did the same thing like a year ago.Real heads saw that shit and thought the same thing i did.I’VE SEEN BETTER.

    +1 Araab 0 Kanye
    Peace

  2. Yea ArabMuzik is the first person to play an MPC live. Even though Erykah Badu and Q-Tip were also doing it too. Kid sounds stupid. Btw, what music has dude come out with? What classic albums does he have? Who knows him outside of a couple heads that come on sites like this? Exactly.

  3. I’m still having it hard to believe Aarab is the first guy to play a mpc live. That machine is as old as he has been. Yall tellin me out of those 20 years there has been nobody to perform that shit infront of an audience?

    Premo?

Even that new type of MPC called Native Instruments Maschine people been using that shit to perform at live parties so I don’t see where his argument is besides he made it hot.

Plus, Kanye didn’t even remotely perform the skillset Aaarab usually do cuz we know he do fast pased shit. At the vmas he looked like kanye was just puttin patterns together to start a song. There two completely different producers

    • I have watched Aarab’s videos for the first time, the guy’s got rare ability, yes, ability. He’s fast like s**t.

I have been using my MPC 5000 in live performances of the artists of my lable and some friends for almost 2 years. I can say “I was the first guy playing the MPC live in Angola (Africa). Did I byte Aarab? No. I did not need to copy from anyone to do so. I didn’t even know him. I think there are a lot of people around the globe who use the MPC live but have not recorded their performances (In the end it’s an instrument, right?) and I believe many others in the USA mainly have done it before.
No, Kanye did not need to byte Aarab to do that. Actualy, Kanye did nothing special. That was more stylistic than functional.

  4. what are you fools talking about???? araab was not the first,10th, or 100th person to play the mpc live. heads have been doing that for years!

    • I thought this comment was a joke until I clicked the youtube link and found out it was serious! hahahahahah

Dude does it well tho, respect lol

  5. IT’S HAS BEEN KNOW FOR ME TO USE MY MPC3000 WHILE BAKING…… AND LATELY, I’VE ENJOYED PLUGGING INTO AN EXTENSION LEAD AND GOING FOR A SKATE WITH IT. NO BEATBOX ON MY SHOULDERS, STRICTLY MPC’S.

AND THEN GUESS WHAT…. THIS MUPPET ARAAB GOES AND STEALS MY VIBE….

  6. MPC meets SCRATCHING !! this the future:

Mixing djing & beat chopping using a custom device called “Quickswitch” he invented really checks that whole technical overboard aspect, cause as a dj you still focus on rockin the floor. That quickswitch device is not a midi controller though, it works differently, and can control non-midi programs… it’s pretty insane what it can do…

This dude also created The Controller One turntable for Vestax: http://www.vestax.com/v/products/detail.php?cate_id=42&parent_id=7

It’s the first musical turntable, translating pitch to melody, it has MIDI on the analog turntable so record pitches can be sequenced. Instead of 16 leveling, you can sample all the real notes analog style, so you don’t get that “digital” sound when you go to low or high. It never really got the spotlight or any coverage, but i heard they spent like 250k on it.

Dude signed a record to Ed Banger (Daft Punk) and worked with J Dilla as a featured artist on Jay Love Japan which he also released with his own cake. You looking for that new crack, this the dude.

  7. ok i like how every one thought his beat were tight untill he start to get a big head then you want to say he aint that good. just give him a break he made a mistake and does not know his history so what. Im a good soccer play and i don’t no shit about soccer history that does not mean im bad same situation here just because he does not know his history doesn’t mean shit about his ability to make beats. one day he will know and that might encourage him to get even better then he is and hes not even in his prime yet. so give the dude a break we do it with evey other person in holiwood why not an up-incoming artist.

  8. by araab’s logic, if i got on stage and played a few chords on a guitar….i would be jacking jimi hendrix’s style…

araab might be one of the most talented dudes i have ever seen (my face is just contorting when he’s on the mpc) but he really needs to get his head out of his ass….kanye plays an mpc on stage and it’s jacking his style….FUCK OUTTA HERE
