Marco Polo Talks DJ Premier, DJ Khalil, Early Career

Marco Polo tells his story of fighting of initial recognition during his early days as a fledgling producer, the influence of DJ Premier in maintaining aesthetic, being a good producer vs being a good Canadian producer, and the standard that DJ Khalil has set for the future of hip-hop.

If anything, what I think I’ve learned the most from Primo was to be a stubborn son of a bitch and just do what you do in any situation.

  1. I hope he knows that he is already on that, “Oh, MP produced that? I’m coppin’ that” stage with me…everything he does is quality to me.

  2. I 4th that!lol And i also agree about the canadian and american mindstate. I wish we still had the same love and respect for the culture as they still do in Canada. It might be there but it’s hard to see.

  3. Marco is definitely on his way to being a legendary producer with the likes of Large Pro,Dj Premier,Alchemist,Dre,Marley Marl & so on !

  4. Big Up toronto Producers MoSS Marco Polo Mr Attic Frank Dukes Rich Kidd. Dubs Banger when i see Marco Polo on the production on coping that for sure as the same for MoSS. I was blown away when a fellow toronto producer said they seen my beat tape video and said i respect that you still dig for vinyl and keep it real with good beats.

Toronto has some serious untaped talent for real!
