Marco Polo tells his story of fighting of initial recognition during his early days as a fledgling producer, the influence of DJ Premier in maintaining aesthetic, being a good producer vs being a good Canadian producer, and the standard that DJ Khalil has set for the future of hip-hop.
If anything, what I think I’ve learned the most from Primo was to be a stubborn son of a bitch and just do what you do in any situation.
I hope he knows that he is already on that, “Oh, MP produced that? I’m coppin’ that” stage with me…everything he does is quality to me.
i 2nd that
I’ll 3rd that! Marco is as raw as it gets! He’s talking real talk & I love that! Great post!
I 4th that!lol And i also agree about the canadian and american mindstate. I wish we still had the same love and respect for the culture as they still do in Canada. It might be there but it’s hard to see.
Vid was dope. It’s crazy his first gig was working around all those classic hip-hop records.
Anybody know what track that is being played at the beginning and end of this vid???
The track is called ‘Nostalgia’. The track Marco did with Masta Ace
Case in point, I bought “Port Authority” because of that track alone…it was all I needed to hear…
“Do What You Do” Marco Polo
Easiest habit to keep, hardest lesson to teach, impossible mission to preach….. AF
you guys rule. Shouts to Pound Magazine for making me sound semi-intelligent.
Dope video. Big Marco Polo fan coming all the way from Ireland.
Got a question though – what’s the beat playing from 2min 42secs ?
I have the 3 Marco Polo albums and as far as I remember it ain’t on any of them. I ask cause we seem to have sampled the same record. Would love to hear his full version.
My one is here @
